Jeff Green’s career is split into three chapters: sportswriting and editing, special events and corporate communications.

After researching and scripting investigative TV features for NBC San Diego while in college, Jeff became a staff writer and then executive editor at a sports publishing firm, covering the LA Dodgers, New York Yankees, Texas Rangers, San Diego Padres and NBA. Highlights included serving as the first editor of Dodger Blue Magazine, reporting on Fernando Valenzuela’s unmatched rookie year, being mistreated by Reggie Jackson and, unfortunately, recounting two baseball strikes.

The next phase of Jeff’s career was becoming the Communications Director for the annual Long Beach Grand Prix and Toyota Pro-Celebrity race, where he handled public/media relations duties, including speech writing, public speaking and press conferences, press kits and media guides, crisis management, credentials, sponsor relations and local and state government relations. This led to five-year stint and similar responsibilities at the LA Marathon (PR Director) and Denver Int’l Marathon (VP Communications).

The final chapter has been directing corporate communications for PR firms with an eclectic mix of clients, including Fender Guitar, Hurley, TrueCar, YokohamaTire, the Pebble Beach Concours, Mercury Insurance, CO-OP Financial Services, Doosan Fuel Cell, the Aptera electric car and Heal the Bay. After serving as partner and principal for NSTIG8 Communications, Jeff moved to VMA in May 2016, where he heads the Innovative Projects team that features a rather distinctive client roster ranging from autonomous/ self-driving vehicles to the Internet of Things.

Additional projects range from being communications chief for Muhammad Ali’s 50th birthday party, cycling venue media director for the 2015 Special Olympics World Games and leading a client’s communications team through a successful IPO. Writing awards include “best motorsports coverage” (10,000-word feature for Road & Track) and two honors for annual report copy.
