The Claremont Lewis Museum of Art building with cherry blossoms in bloom

Case Study: Claremont Lewis Museum of Art

This small museum was growing fast. It had received a major endowment and was in the process of changing its name and expanding its facility, all while running daily operations which included an ongoing roster of exhibit and event programming.

Its website was nearly a decade old, didn’t meet current programming and usability standards, and its design didn’t reflect the contemporary and sophisticated attributes of the organization. In addition, the site’s user interface was difficult for patrons to navigate, and the backend content management system was challenging for its small, mostly volunteer staff to maintain.

Samples of the new CLMOA website on various devices

VMA designed a comprehensive, yet clean, modern site that captures the museum’s vibrant visual identity and its impressive array of exhibitions, events, and activities. The site draws in visitors and subtly guides them on a journey of discovery that encourages deeper involvement and engagement with the museum. The site was built on a WordPress platform that automatically generates a mobile version, making it easy for site visitors to navigate on an array of devices and browsers, and easy for staff to maintain and update.
